Rising Damp

Time for the Lime.

Whilst there are a multitude of excellent damp proofing solutions and products available on the market today it is still necessary to have a sympathetic response to important historical buildings and to make sure that we maintain our Heritage in an appropriate manner. We completed a survey on a Grade 2 listed, Tudor styled period building and one area in the entrance hall was found to be visibly damp with stained and decaying plaster.

Elevated external ground level ? - Structural waterproofing !

Allready well into a project to extend his home into an adjoining outbuilding a client asked us to provide some advice on how he could stop water from entering his building everytime it rained. A concrete slab had been laid with a DPM (damp proof membrane) and the builders had applied a rubber bitumen style product to the wall/floor junction. Externally to two elevation the ground level was higher than the internal floor and it was these walls that had evidence of water ingress.

Failed Damp Proof Membrane ?

200MM of concrete in your floor slab will not protect you from Rising Damp without an appropriate Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) this was exactly what we discovered following a Free of charge survey at a property in Bristol. The building was a self contained annex built in the last 10 years and from early on the ower had no end of damp related issues with wet carpets and mould to the walls, losing valuable revenue from exiting tenants and the replacement flooring and redecorating.

Rising damp treatment in Swindon.

Whilst we always provide a full and comprehensive specification of works we can reduce the works on request and still provide a guarantee. Recently after providing a pre-purchase Damp & Timber survey for a mid terraced house in central Swindon rising damp was identified as the main problem and we provided a full report with a detailed level of works.

Damp proofing in Taunton

We provided a client with a free of charge damp and timber survey for a rental property in Taunton, Somerset. At the time of survey the house was occupied and our survey identified damp issues to the front bay window area and to the rear external wall in the rear reception.
